Application Conditions
Applicants must complete the requirements detailed in the Submitting an Application section below. All sections of the Application Form must be completed including the Checklist for your application to be considered.
Applications are accepted throughout the year and considered at the meetings of the Board of Trustees, which are held three times a year.
Applications must be received by 5pm on each funding round closing date.
The applicant's intended project commencement or travel date must be after the dates specified in the Closing Dates section below: the Trust does not fund retrospectively.
Applications will be acknowledged by email within fourteen (14) working days of the closing date.
Trust staff may contact applicants to request further information regarding their application. If the applicant does not respond to the request in the nominated time-frame, the application will be considered on the basis of the information already available.For the purposes of assessment applicants' proposals are sent to specialist consultants. Should the consultant think it necessary they may contact referees to discuss the application. The review is carried out on a confidential basis, in accordance with the Australian Federal Privacy Act.
Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application by post, approximately three-and-a-half months after the closing date.
It is the policy of the Trust not to provide reasons for declining applications. However, if an application is deemed ineligible, the applicant will be advised of the reason their application was unable to be considered.
- Incomplete or late applications will not be considered for funding.
- All grants awarded are subject to the Standard Grant Conditions (14kb PDF).
Grants
Submitting an application
Applicants must provide:
- A signed and completed Application Form and Checklist which may be downloaded from the Application Conditions section (above). Please note that unsigned applications will not be accepted.
The application will comprise:
- A description of the proposed project, clearly outlining the professional development objectives that it is expected to offer.
- A detailed budget (in Australian Dollars) showing the total funding requirements for the duration of the project and anticipated partnership funding sources (indicating whether confirmed or unconfirmed), and including a reasonable personal contribution by the applicant. Anticipated response dates for any pending requests to other funding bodies should also be included.
- Details of the proposed itinerary.
- Two original signed letters of reference pertaining to the proposed project from colleagues or mentors, no more than one of whom has been in a teaching role to you. Please note that character references are not appropriate and letters of confirmation do not qualify as references. Unsigned, emailed, photocopied or scanned references will not be accepted.
- A detailed curriculum vitae - not a biography - including employment history, professional development and education details, including grades.
- Confirmation of acceptance into the course of study/residency/mentorship. An application may be submitted if you are awaiting confirmation of your acceptance into a post-graduate course of study. However, if you have already been accepted, a letter of confirmation from the university or host institution should be included. If the project includes private lessons or working with mentors, then you should include a letter confirming the teacher’s agreement to work with them.
- A reasonable sample of your work (for example, CD, DVD, photographs or scripts) providing a broad view of your work to date.
Note: The CD or DVD submitted must be of good quality and in a format which may be viewed on any standard computer or media player. - For musicians, a disc of at least 20 minutes of recorded material should be included demonstrating the breadth of your repertoire.
- Visual artists should include between 12 – 20 images on disc.
- Performing artists should include a DVD showing a variety of your work. Stills or static images are not appropriate.
- Filmakers should include a showreel up to 10 minutes long to give a sense of the scope and variety of your work, and one full-length piece.
- Recent reviews of your work may also be included.
Submitting your application:
In order for an application to be considered, one signed original of the application together with an email copy must be received by close of business at 5pm on the Closing Date.
Note: you are not required to sign the electronic copy of your application form and please do not convert the application form to PDF format or send supporting documentation by email.

Return of support material
Support material for unsuccessful and ineligible applications will be returned only if an appropriate stamped, self-addressed envelope is included with the application. Otherwise it will be held for a period of two months at the Trust's office and then disposed of.
Support material provided by successful applicants is retained by the Trust.
To maximise the chance of success, the Trust strongly advises applicants to read ALL parts of the Grant Information section of the website before completing their application.

Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications early rather than wait until the closing date.
