Jacinta is a theatre director with a particular interest in how human experience, as depicted on stage, can be heightened physically. She previously received an ArtStart grant to undertake physical performance training with the Saratoga Intensive Training Centre in New York.

Jacinta made her musical directorial debut with The Hatpin at the Victorian College of the Arts.  Currently she is Assistant Director on the Australian production of Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical.

Jacinta was invited to take up this inaugural directing attachment at the Old Vic theatre. This scheme has been recently established by the company’s newly appointed Artistic Director, Matthew Warchus. Jacinta will be assisting Matthew in staging the world premier West End production of Groundhog Day the Musical (written by Danny Rubin and Tim Minchin).

Receiving an Ian Potter Cultural Trust grant will allow Jacinta to be the first participant in this initiative, giving her the rare opportunity to observe other productions in rehearsal at the Old Vic, learn about how the company’s not-for-profit model works and act as the Old Vic’s ambassador in attendance at various development workshops and events.

Jacinta hopes this opportunity will provide an entree to directing main stage productions in Australia and around the world. Congratulations Jacinta - we look forward to hearing how it goes!
