To study Japanese techniques to repair lacquered decorative art objects through undertaking a Course Assistant position at Urushi 2005: International Course on Conservation of Japanese Lacquer; one months study of lacquer manufacturing techniques to familiarise herself with the tools and materials that are also used in their conservation, and visits to lacquer workshops, museums and exhibitions; and two months of independent study at the National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, Tokyo, to learn further techniques to those already taught at Urushi 2003, Japan, 9 September 2005 - 14 January 2006
